Events and Races

The 4000 class has a busy calendar of events including the UK Series, UK National Championships and the Europeans. Dates and details for each event can be found on the Events Calendar page.

UK Series

The class organises a UK series. There are normally around 6 UK series events at range of venues both coastal and inland, including such locations as Hayling Island, Weymouth, Rutland, Grafham, Felixstowe Ferry etc. These are 2-day events with the first race never starting earlier than 12 noon on the Saturday. Aim to get there for around 09:30am and you’ll have plenty of time to rig, grab food, and get changed prior to racing.

If you’d like to know more about attending a UK Series event take a look at our Beginner’s guide to UK Events.

National Championships

We run a 4 day National Championships with the racing starting on a Saturday and finishing on the Tuesday. Traditionally the Nationals is raced at bigger sea clubs which recently included Weymouth and Hayling Island. Just because it’s a nationals, it doesn’t mean that everyone takes it too seriously and we still have a lot of fun.

European Championships

For many years now, we have worked hard on running our Europeans in conjunction with the ever growing Italian fleet. These events are normally run in nice “holiday-friendly” venues, which are great for non-sailing partners. The racing usually runs from a Tuesday or Wednesday through to Friday or Saturday, but most people make a full week of it, get in the holiday spirit and have a great time.

Other Class Support Events

The class also generally supports about 3-4 other key events in the year, and whilst not ‘official’ class events, these are often well attended. Full details appear on the Events Calendar pages.
